California wildfires have created a lot of victims and, unfortunately, there are people out there who victimize them even further by scamming them after the fact. We wrote recently about How To Find (Or Keep) Fire Insurance in the wake of a wildfire in California, and here we would like to provide you with some tips and resources on how to protect yourself from scams after a wildfire. California Wildfire Scams

It's sad that people would do this, but they invariably do, and vulnerable people are victimized again. These insidious scams are sometimes difficult to spot up front, and the scammers have become pretty adept at appearing like people who genuinely want to "help". Once they gain the trust of wildfire victims, however, they can often scam them in various ways including, but not limited to the nature of the work they say needs to be done, the quality of materials used, the time frame in which they promise to provide all this "help", asking for cash payment(s) up front, and a lot more. If you or anyone you know has been a victim of a California wildfire, you need to be wary of people coming out of the woodwork to provide services. There are resources out there to help.

Please feel free to share the tips cited in the report (click above), and our hope is that this will help prevent wildfire victims from incurring further losses at the hands of unscrupulous scammers. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
